- Summer Camp

A Note from Our Director

I am filled with excitement as I begin to share with you all the spectacular things that God has done throughout this summer. This year we have been blessed with over 200 children, (represented by 175 families), attending Summer Camp at Celebration, and even this week the Lord has blessed us with increasing that number. The month of July was very special as we set aside a week to concentrate on an amazing mission project: Kids Against Hunger. The children packaged food that has been developed by some of the world's leading food scientists at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills and ADM. This one package provides six nutritionally complete servings to feed starving children around the world as well as the hungry here in the United States. During that week the children traveled to CairoGeorgia to learn about the valuable work that this organization does, and to help package meals to be distributed around the world. The average cost per meal is 25 cents, and we set a personal goal for the children to package 1000 meals during the week. Because they were inspired by personal stories, touched by pictures of hungry children, and just wanting to do something nice for someone else that was pleasing to Jesus, they managed to package over 3000 meals and raise more than $138 dollars to help cover the cost of shipping.  I was so touched by their willingness, their generosity, and the love of their precious hearts.  It was an experience that deeply ministered to everyone involved.

Just last week we had our Super Summer Celebration and had over 250 children on campus making a worship video to the song God is Knocking. My prayer leading up to that day was that every single child who did not know Jesus as their personal Savior would hear the words to that song and know that God is reaching out to them, they just have to invite him in. It was an amazing opportunity to invite other camps as well as church families to come and be a part of this awesome day.  I am excited to see what spiritual fruit will come of this phenomenal opportunity of getting the children involved in deeper worship experiences which strengthen their relationship with their savior!  God has been so good to us all summer!  We praise Him for His loving kindness!

 Why Summer Camp at Celebration?

Our Purpose is to Connect People with God and with Others. We believe that caring for and leading children begins with relationships. It is vitally important that the children feel a sense of belonging. Each child desires a sense of fitting in whether it’s in a group or through the relationships they build. When connecting children with God, their relationships will have meaning and purpose.   We understand selecting care for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. The After School Program at Celebration can help make the decision easier. This program was founded in 2004 on the principle that young children flourish when placed in a nurturing environment. This program offers your child a loving and safe haven – a home away from home. We are dedicated to teaching and ministering to completed Pre-K through 5th grade children with a desire that these children grow spiritually and come to know Jesus Christ in a real way.

Our Goal

Our goal is to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of each student by providing a supervised afternoon with educational and fitness related activities. Our goal is to provide a quality program that will help lay a strong Biblical foundation that one day will connect them to God and lead them to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We will disciple them and encourage them to grow in their walk with Christ. Here at Celebration, our prayer is that every child will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in that relationship.

Meeting the needs of the children in our ministry means we are also here for their families. We believe that children are a gift from God. Because the parents, or caretakers, are the spiritual leaders of the children, it is our desire to guide them with encouragement and Biblical principles during their time with us.

 Our Desire

We desire for these children to continue to become beautiful on the inside. It is our desire for them to be clothed with “strength and honor”, with a “humble and quiet spirit”, and with the kind of beauty that never fades. We desire to teach the children to have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, compassion, be tenderhearted, forgiving, to express grief when they sin, and to learn to praise God even in the midst of difficult times. As parents, we give them so many things to keep them busy and content, but we really long for them to learn what it means to be truly content. In short, we strive to teach them to be like Christ, which should be the goal of every faithful Christian.

Our Summer Camp Staff

Our teachers specialize in TLC – they are trained, loving and committed. We maintain a warm, caring and secure environment for children as they are taught Biblical truths and grow in knowledge and understanding of God’s Word. Our staff is made up of enthusiastic leaders with a passion for touching the lives of children and a desire to work for the Lord in all they do. Our staff of is expected to fully engage and exemplify a high, strong, consistent work ethic and to be the hands and feet of our God. The relationship between the staff and children is essential to fulfilling the purpose of Celebration Baptist Church Summer Camp.

I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for entrusting your precious children in our care. We do not take for granted your confidence in our staff as we seek to serve both the physical and spiritual needs of your children. Our prayer is that you will feel great peace in knowing that your child is being taken care of in a safe, loving and Christian environment.  We consider it an honor and privilege to be a part of your lives, and feel extremely blessed and excited to have each and every one of your children in our Summer Camp program.  Should you have any questions or concerns please contact me at 893-1709 ext. 21 or 559-0109.  We are looking forward to an amazing summer of learning about God and His love for us.

Summer Camp at Celebration Baptist Church is an outreach ministry designed for students of ages 4 (by September 1, 2009) through 11 who have completed Pre-K through 5th grade. Summer Camp’s primary target is for those parents seeking full-time care, Monday through Friday during the summer. 4.  How do I know what my payment should be in order to reserve my child’s spot?

Please refer to Form #5 the Summer Camp Fee Schedule regarding registration fees, weekly fees, sibling fees, drop-ins, and cancellations. You may also call the church office and ask for Holly Mills 893-1709 ex 21 or email Holly Mills at hmills@icelebration.org if you have questions regarding camp fees.

5. When are my payments due?

There is a payment box at the sign-in table each morning inside the front of the gym doors.  All fees are due every Monday morning your child attends camp.  If payment is not made by Monday by 6:00 p.m. you will be charged a $10.00 late fee. If we do not receive tuition by Tuesday by 6:00 p.m. your child will not be able to attend camp until the account is made current.

6.  Who are the camp counselors taking care of my children every day?

Celebration has made it a policy to have adult leadership with student aides as helpers with your children.  We have been blessed to utilize Christian adult leadership over the last 6 years.

7.  How often and where will my child go on field trips?

Pre-K children are scheduled to take one field trip each week. Kindergarten through fifth grade children are scheduled to take 1 to 2 field trips to various fun places each week.  Most field trips are in the Tallahassee area.  A field trip schedule will be available online and in the church office on Monday, May 3rd. Trips include but are not limited to Chuck E Cheese, Zoinks, Fun Station, movies, skating, bowling, museums, swimming, parks, etc. It is mandatory that each child wear their camp T-shirt on field trip days. If a child shows up not wearing their camp T-shirt they will not be able to attend the field trip unless their parents buy another shirt for $7.00.

8.  What other activities will my child do while on campus at CBC?

Students will engage in a variety of fun activities such as:  Praise & Worship, Chapel, Music, water days, bounce house, picnics, outdoor and indoor games, devotions, Bible Study, cooking, crafts, dance, cheerleading etc.

9.  What are the hours of operation and sign-in procedures for camp?

Sign-In:  Camp opens at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. each day.  Parents should bring their children inside the gym each day and sign them in on the daily sign-in sheets as well as make any appropriate payments and pick-up all important notes from camp counselors regarding weekly activities. It is important that children arrive prior to 8:30 or they may be left if their group is scheduled for a field trip.  You should contact the director if you’re going to be arriving after 8:30.  If your child is sick or won’t be attending camp on a particular day please call before 8:30 to help us plan for the day.

10.  What should my child bring to camp every day?

Campers should bring a lunch and drink from home every day.  Please do not send in soft drinks, food that needs to be cooked or heated up. We will provide a morning and afternoon snack. On some occasions we will have a special pizza day and campers will be notified at the beginning of the week if they don’t need to bring a lunch.  It is recommended that your child comes with a change of clothes to be kept in a back pack due to water days and other messy activities. Please label all your child’s belongings.

Few Things my child should NOT Bring to camp.

1. Toys and any other items that may cause distractions.

2. Children may not bring any cell phones, PSP, Nintendo DS, Portable game system, I Pods, MP3, DVD’s, video games, CD’s,    Littlest Pet Shops, Match Box Cars, etc. Please talk with your camper and enforce these rules with your child so there are no surprises.

11.  Will I need to send extra money for field trips?

Parents do not need to send extra money for field trips.  The camp provides all fees for field trips.  If you choose to send extra money with your child for tokens, etc. the child will need to be responsible for this money.  We strongly recommend that we try not to do this because other children don’t understand why they can’t have extras.

A policy and procedures manual as well as pick-up cards and instructions will be issued on the first day of camp.
